Lucky Friday 13th for Ohio Mega Millions player
Despite the superstition, this Friday proved very lucky for one Mega Millions lottery player as they won a huge $200 million jackpot on the multi-state lottery. The Ohio Lottery confirmed after the draw that one player, who chose to purchase a Quick Pick ticket where the lottery machine chooses the numbers for you, matched all of the correct numbers in the draw. According to Ohio Lottery spokeswoman Sandra Neal, the winner of the jackpot will receive around $120 million in cash after taxes and fees are withdrawn. The winner was purchased at Blendon Drive-Thru in Westerville, Ohio, which is north of the city of Columbus, and the lucky numbers were 17, 18, 31, 35 and 59 along with the Mega Ball of 9. Lottery officials say that they don’t as yet know the identity of the winner, but they did confirm that the store will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. This is the third time this year that the Mega Millions jackpot achieved $200 million or more, and it is the first time that the jackpot has been won since September, when a group of five long-term friends from New York won a $106 million lottery prize, and until then, the top prize had only been won twice during the summer, once in July by Mega Millions winner Raul Ahumada from Missouri, and another time in Manhattan by a group of co-workers who took home a 58 million Mega Millions bounty.According to lottery news officials, this is also the third time in the last five years that the Mega Millions jackpot has been won on Friday 13th, which is purported to be unlucky for some, but clearly not for all, including Kelsey Zachow who won $66 million on the Mega Millions on Friday 13th June 2014. In fact, on days where the 13th of the month fell on a Friday, more than $95.5 million in top prizes has been paid out to multi-state lottery players across the USA since 2009.As well as the jackpot winner, there were two other millionaire lottery winners as two players matched the five main numbers only, missing out on just the Mega Ball, and each of those players won $1 million. Those tickets were sold in California and Ohio, but they have also not yet come forward to claim their prizes. For your chance of also becoming a winner, play online with us at Lottery24.com.
