Michelle De Roma from British Columbia, Canada, received a massive boost just days after Christmas. She won the $39.8m Lotto Max jackpot after purchasing the ticket while shopping for Boxing Day bargains.

Her winning ticket was successful in matching 05-13-14-16-17-29-49 to win a total of $39,517,071.40. She didn’t see the draw live and it wasn’t until hearing a local person had won the jackpot, then she scanned her ticket.Before collecting her winnings, De Roma was still intent on enjoying the Christmas holidays with her husband and three children. She put the ticket to one side in an envelope with other documents. Once the festivities were over, the celebrations most definitely weren’t. Michelle received her Lotto Max cheque in Vancouver on Friday January 4, a great start to 2019. Speaking about her prize, the shocked winner said, “our lives have changed forever.”That includes buying a “nice house” for her family but it’s not going to be where she currently lives. “We are planning to move out of Surrey, but we don’t know where yet,” said the Lotto Max winner. Michelle is a regular lottery player and hailed her jackpot win as “an incredible blessing.”

Now she’s a lottery millionaire, she can indulge in one of her favourite hobbies. “I want to travel – everybody wants to travel.” First on her shopping list is a trip to see St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy and she’ll be taking her mother with her too.Michelle hasn’t forgotten her husband though, especially as he’s soon to celebrate his birthday. “It’s the perfect gift,” said the Lotto Max winner. “I’ll just give him the cheque — with a kiss.”
