Lottery Winners on Top of the World
Time for some more lottery stories from around the world. This week we have everything from mountaineering to running errands and an early morning surprise.
Morning discovery
Sleepy eyes often lead to mistakes don’t they? Well, that was the case with a woman from Box Hill in Victoria, Australia. When checking her TattsLotto tickets soon after getting up, she thought a win of $500 had been achieved in the April 8 draw. That wasn’t the case though.
“Then I wiped my eyes as I was still sleepy and saw it was a lot more,” she explained. In fact, her lottery win was $582,463.60 and then tears began to flow. Plans for her lottery winnings include paying off her mortgage and perhaps buying a new car.
On top of a mountain?
Also celebrating down under are a young married couple from the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. They won a $1 million lottery prize on April 12.
The couple were actually on holiday when discovering they’d become lottery millionaires. A message had been received telling them of a big win. Their problem was getting reception to make the call and discover how much they’d won.
They then probably became the first couple to go to the top of a mountain to contact a lottery company. The couple want to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage and more holidays are on their way.
Errands time
It’s always good to run errands for your mother. That’s what a man from Baltimore County in Maryland, USA, did and it’s changed his life. His mother wanted a dozen eggs so her son went to get some but that’s not all he bought.
Also purchased was a lottery scratchcard and he didn’t even wait to leave the store before finding out if it was a winner. When the $50,000 win was discord, his pulse got faster and he said “I felt it in my heart.”
“I feel like this was meant to be,” he added. His windfall will be used to help his family and pay off some bills.
