Lottery Winners Around the World Celebrating Wins
It’s been a great week for lottery players with a record $80 million Lotto Max jackpot won on Tuesday. An exciting month still lies ahead of us with a €130m (£110m) EuroMillions Superdraw a week today.
Record jackpot win
We start in Canada where the largest ever Lotto Max jackpot has finally been won. Two tickets sold in Ontario and Quebec shared the prize. Each takes home a fantastic $40 million. Tonight’s draw has a $22 million jackpot.
EuroMillions Superdraw next week
We’re just a week away from the fourth EuroMillions Superdraw of the year. On Friday September 27, the top prize will be enhanced to €130m (£110 million). Make sure you buy your tickets from Lottery24 to have a chance of becoming a multi-millionaire.
This month has already seen one massive EuroMillions jackpot won. On September 6, a EuroMillions ticket sold in Belgium won the €149 million top prize. There’s been no winner since and this evening this popular lottery has a €54 million (£45 million) jackpot.
Change of game pays off
On the other side of the Atlantic, there’s a $195 million Powerball jackpot tomorrow. Recently Kristina Love from Traverse City in Michigan decided to change the lottery she plays. It proved to be a great decision with $1 million being won in the August 24 draw.
The 74-year-old usually plays the Fantasy 5 lottery game. However, while out shopping, she decided “on a whim” to try her luck on the Powerball draw instead.
It was the morning after the draw that she decided to check her lottery ticket. Amazingly, she’d won $1 million so was pleased she’d changed her game. “I started screaming,” recalled the Powerball winner.
Her son rushed into the room thinking that something bad had happened to his mother. Never did he imagine she’d just won $1 million.
His mother still wasn’t sure though and said: “I must have looked the numbers over five more times after that to make sure I wasn’t mistaken.”
Plans for her Powerball winnings include buying a house and helping her family.
