EuroMillions jackpot winner Margaret Loughrey plans on giving away all but £1m of her £26m win and is already halfway towards achieving that aim.It was in the EuroMillions draw held on November 27th, 2013 that Margaret became a multi-millionaire. She won £26,863,588 - the biggest ever jackpot won by someone from Northern Ireland.Loughrey purchased her winning ticket on her way back home after visiting a local Job Centre. At the time of her win she was living on benefits and receiving just £58 a week. As soon as she found out she had won the EuroMillions jackpot and her money worries were over, she pledged to help others saying of her winnings “All it will do is change lives for the better and make a lot of people happy, not just me.” She pledged to stay in her beloved Strabane and has kept true to her word.Speaking about her decision to use most of her winnings helping others Margaret explained: “I know what it's like to have nothing. That's why I'm giving it away – I can't miss what I never had. I spent half of my adult life unemployed and the other half on the minimum wage so I know only too well how hard things can be."Since May of this year Margaret has set up nine companies, six of them in recent weeks and is a director of all of them. She also purchased Herdman’s Mill in Sion Mills with the aim of transforming it into a major leisure and tourism site and creating jobs for the area.Helping her home town is really important to her and ever since she won the EuroMillions jackpot she decided that she would keep £1m for herself and give the rest of her prize to the town. “There is so much talent here in the Strabane area; people just need to be given a chance. Everyone has the right to work for a living, to support their families, to buy their own home, to run their own business. People just need to be given opportunities."If you wish to follow Margaret footsteps in becoming a winner, purchase your EuroMillions tickets online at Lottery24.com.
