LOTTERY SYNDICATE SCOOPS £109,182 EUROMILLIONS PRIZE
A lucky lottery syndicate from Knowsley in Liverpool, England won £109,182 in the March 8 EuroMillions draw but at first they thought they’d only won £109.The group of ten IT workers matched five numbers and one lucky star in the draw just missing out on the £24m jackpot. However, 21-year-old syndicate leader Joe Kerslake misread how much they’d won. “I interrupted everyone to tell them we won £109 but as I read it out I realised it was a comma, not a full-stop on the number. I was pretty happy with £109 at first to be honest, but then I realised.”Marjorie Tyrie from Kent, England, thought she’d only won £1000 but it was really a £1m UK Lotto win. In the USA, David Hausmann from Iowa won $50,000 on a Winter Super Crossword scratchcard but initially thought he’d won just $5,000. Ruth and Peter Doyle from Wiltshire were shocked when they discovered that their supposed £25 win was in fact a £1m EuroMillions prize. When they received their winning cheque, one of the syndicate leader’s colleagues shouted: “You’ll blow it all at Cheltenham.” Joe, who comes from Wigan admits he’ll have “a fair bit of a bet at Cheltenham” but “won’t be splashing it all.” He wants to put some aside for a house when he’s older and wants to go on holiday too. Mark and Carmel Cousins from England went on their first holiday abroad after their £100,000 National Lottery Monopoly scratchcard win.Another syndicate member is Ashley Garvin from St Helens. He’s expecting a baby with his wife who was in tears on the phone when told of their win. Roisin Howarth, 34, from Prescot, wasn’t in the office when the win was revealed. She had to keep texting the other members asking if they were joking. The syndicate members are also planning a team night out. Joe says they’ll continue buying Lucky Dip EuroMillions tickets and declared, “As we always say, he who dares wins.” Perhaps they’ll be like Rodney Meadows from California, USA, who had kept on playing and eventually won $10m on a California Lottery 30th Anniversary scratchcard.Try your luck with your favourite lottery game and purchase your tickets online at Lottery24.com.
