Lottery prayer wins $1m for North Carolina grandmother
A North Carolina grandmother sent up a lottery prayer, and it was answered. She won $1m in a second chance drawing.

NC lottery officials that she never expected to win.Even when an official from the North Carolina lottery called her after the drawing, she didn’t think she’d won much.“I actually thought I’d won one of the smaller drawings,” she said.As her prayers were answered, the grandmother began to cry. “I’m so happy I want to scream” she said on the phone to the lottery official.The grandmother was out shopping for flowers when she got the call. She didn’t scream, but she did have tears streaming down her face.The lucky winner took home $1m, beating odds of 1 in 2.14 million. She claimed her prize just a few hours later at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.
A new home and spoiling her family
Mrs Johnson took a lump sum option and received $424,500 after tax.She said that she planned to use the money from her lottery prayer to buy a new house and “take care of her children and grandchildren.”“It never occurred to me that I’d actually win the $1 million,” the modest North Carolinian said.
