Lottery Numbers Used for Five Years Win $5.3 million

Using the same numbers for several years really can pay off. A man from Otago in New Zealand has been doing just that and he’s just won a $5.3 million lottery prize on March 22.

The lucky winner has spoken about his win. His windfall came in the NZ Powerball draw and saw him scoop $5 million. It really was his lucky day as he also won $300,00 in the Lotto First Division.

It was the day after the draw that he heard  on the radio of a local lottery ticket winning the jackpot. He looked in a newspaper and the numbers he’s been using for five years had won him the jackpot.  The Cobb family from England won £1 million after using the same numbers for 30 years.

Keeping his ticket safe

After finding out about his big win, the delighted player spent the next few nights sleeping next to his winning lottery ticket. It was better than  taping a lottery ticket to his body as a recent player did.

He now wants to enjoy his life a little more and said that this is a “great moment” in his life.His win was the second major lottery success in Otago in the space of a week.

It followed a couple from Dunedin winning a $5.5 million prize, though they were convinced they were not the winners.

They had heard the news that the $5.5 million winning ticket had been sold in the area. However, the female half of the couple was convinced she’d bought their ticket from a different shop.

When out buying some groceries, she decided to check her ticket anyway and discovered it was a Division One winner.  The ticket was handed over to a member of staff who was then asked much had been won.

She was shocked to be told that it was “a big one” and then discovered it was worth $5.5 million. No wonder the lottery winner said: “I was really shocked – I couldn’t believe it!”
