Long Wait for Success Over for Canadian Lottery Players

Two Canadians are celebrating massive lottery wins. One of the lucky players was Sarah Nellis from Waterloo who won $5 million who’d been waiting a long time for success.

The mother-of-seven says she’s been playing lottery games for many years. However, this win on a MEGA scratchcard is the first big win that the patient lottery player has had.

Her $5 million win was discovered after checking the results on her phone. The lucky player admits that she was “certainly surprised” when seeing she’d won the top prize.  Remember  all the major lottery results are on Lottery24.

It didn’t take her long to start spreading the amazing news to her mother and children. Not surprisingly, Sarah says: “Everyone was shocked.”

Plans for her lottery winnings include buying a house that is more accessible for her, some more MEGA tickets and one of her beloved Reuben sandwiches.

Lucky Friday 13th

Another big winner is Mariette Cleven from Maugerville in New Brunswick. The nurse won a $675,000 prize playing the Set for Life scratchcard  on December 13.

That just happened to be a Friday so not all are unlucky. Mariette had been told by her brother that she never wins anything more than a couple of dollars when playing the lottery. You can imagine her joy therefore when it was while she was on the phone to him that her $675,000 win was discovered.

Speaking about her lottery win, Cleven said that she was “still feeling a little overwhelmed.” 
Their mother wants to use some of her lottery winnings to pay for her children’s education.

There will be plenty of overseas holidays too with trips to the Magdalen Islands, the Netherlands and Iceland on the way. That’s just like the globetrotting  couple from Yorkshire, England who won a £77,616 EuroMillions prize.

It’s all very different for her after her financial struggles as a single parent. “The first  half of my life I thought was hard, but the next half is going to be really good,” said the lottery winner.
