A group of four long-time friends from Winnipeg in Canada have shared in a huge $3.5 million jackpot on the Canadian Lotto 649 game.The group of lottery players, headed up by Ashok Prashar, won their top prize on the Lotto 649 drawing which took place on Saturday, November 4th, and they shared a $7 million jackpot with another ticket holder in Ontario. Mr Prashar, who purchases the Lotto 649 tickets for himself and his friends, told lottery officials that when he saw he had a voicemail message from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation asking him to call him back, he first thought it was to renew his Lotto 649 subscription. Not long ago two cousins from Winnipeg split a $1 million prize on the Lotto 649.However, when he returned the call, he heard from the lottery official that answered that he couldn’t have been more wrong. “We don’t call you for renewals,” the Lotto 649 officials told him. “We call you when you’ve won.” An Oz Lotto winner from Canberra also found out about her big Monday Oz Lotto win over the phone.Mr Prashar said that he called his three friends immediately, but chose not to break the news to them on the phone. “I told them I wanted to meet them all together,” he said, adding that he didn’t want to tell them the good news separately. Earlier this year five friends from southern Ontario shared a $500,000 Lotto Max prize, while a couple of years ago a group of friends from British Columbia won $1 million on the Lotto 649.“We thought he was going to ask us for money to renew the subscription,” said Mr Chhibba.
