A lottery syndicate group from Spalding in Lincolnshire, England has become the latest group of co-workers to win £1 million on the EuroMillions lottery, after their ticket matched the Millionaire Raffle numbers in the draw.The group of 13 lottery players all work at food manufacturing firm Bakkavor in Spalding, and they won their million pounds in the EuroMillions draw last Friday. Syndicate leader Mark Waters together with another member, Karen Taylor, told lottery officials that they were the first to realise the group had won such a large amount, but they kept it a secret from the rest of the syndicate until they could be certain.“Karen takes charge of the tickets and on Saturday morning I had a dozen or so missed called from her,” said Mr Waters of the moment he found out that they had won on the EuroMillions lottery. “She usually picks me up on the way to work so my first thought was she’s had an accident!” Mr Waters continued to say that when he did eventually manage to talk to Ms Taylor, she screamed at him down the phone and told him “I don’t know whether it’s true but I think we’ve won the lottery!”Mr Waters said that they didn’t want to get everybody’s hopes up until they had spoken to Camelot and confirmed the EuroMillions win, and he said that when they finally broke the news to their friends and colleagues “The whole room went mad!” Each of the lottery syndicate members will receive £76,000 after the £1 million EuroMillions prize has been divided equally, and Mr Waters said that none of the lottery players are under any illusions that they’ll be able to give up work just yet.“It means we can do all those things we’ve wanted to do but just haven’t been able to afford,” he told EuroMillions officials.
