Leftover Change Leads to€500,000 EuroMillions Plus Win
Having some leftover change proved to be great news for a family from Galway in Ireland. It led to them winning a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus prize in the draw held on July 4.
Although the family has asked to remain anonymous, they have been speaking about their fantastic win. A family member revealed the events that led to her buying a EuroMillions Plus ticket and the celebrations that followed.
Their winning ticket was purchased from McGreal’s Mace in Ballybrit in Co. Galway. Buying a ticket for the next EuroMillions Plus draw wasn’t the reason for going there though. Far more important was purchasing some pork chops and milk for that evening’s dinner.
However, there was some change left so a EuroMillions Plus ticket was bought too. Little did she know what was to follow thanks to that leftover change.
It was when she was at a friend’s house that the €500,000 win was discovered. Her friend was the one who checked the EuroMillions Plus ticket and revealed the amazing news. “My legs nearly went weak when they told me the ticket was worth €500,000,” recalled the shocked winner.
Immediately she was on the phone to her family members to tell them the fantastic news. Having a bit of a reputation for playing practical jokes, getting anyone to believe her was a tough task.
It was no joke on this occasion though, they really had won €500,000 Later that evening the family members all met up and the celebrations began. “We were dancing up on the tables and singing songs - it was a night I’ll never forget,” said the EuroMillions Plus winner.
There are no concrete plans on how the €500,000 will be spent. A family holiday in 2024 looks extremely likely though.
It’s been a lucky few weeks for lottery players in Galway. June 23 saw a player from Ballinasloe win also win a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus prize. Seven days later another Ballinasloe resident landed a €500,000 win, also playing EuroMillions Plus.
