Late Night Shock for $60 million Australian Powerball Winner
Last week was a massive one for Australian lottery players. Two days after a $100 million Oz lotto jackpot was won, a man from Queensland landed a $60 million Australian Powerball top prize in the February 6 draw.
The Bribie Island resident had no idea he had won the Australian Powerball jackpot. In fact, he was just about to go to bed as he received the most amazing phone call of his life.
His ticket had been registered so even if he didn’t know he was a multi-millionaire, the lottery company did. He has asked to remain anonymous but we do know the lucky Australian Powerball winner is married with children and is a retiree.
“I’ve just gone to bed”
When receiving that magical phone call, he told the lottery company: “I’ve just gone to bed.” Even though it was late at night, he declared that the news “calls for a bottle of champagne.”
The Australian Powerball winner added: “I can’t stop laughing” and nor could his wife. He joked that his plan for the next few hours had been to dream about what it’d be like to win the $60 million jackpot and “all the things I could do.”
Now he has no need to dream about being a multi-millionaire Australian Powerball winner. His win came with numbers he’d been using for ten to 15 years. He admits to sometimes changing them but not on this special night.
Distracted
It’s a win that nearly didn’t happen though. His wife had reminded him about the $60 million jackpot but he then got “distracted” and nearly forgot to buy the life-changing ticket.
The lucky winner says that a few months ago he’d had a “vivid dream” that he and a friend had won $40 million. It seems reality is a lot better than his dreams. A £500,000 Thunderball winner thought he’d dreamt news of his win.
Plans for the $60 million include helping family and friends and buying a vintage car, just like the one his mother drove.
