Last-Minute Purchase Wins $11m Oz Lotto Jackpot

A last-minute purchase won a woman from Nabiac in New South Wales, won her an $11 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

The Mid-North coast player won her great prize in the draw held on Tuesday 8 March. In all, she won a total of $11,065,048.79. However, it was a win that very nearly didn’t happen.

It’s Crazy

It was only when walking past an Oz Lotto sign while out shopping, that a ticket was bought. “It was completely last minute. It’s crazy!” said the delighted jackpot winner.

It was the following morning while driving home, her son gave her a call. He told her there that the jackpot had been won and that prompted his mother to check her ticket.

That wasn’t the first thing she did when arriving home. First of all, there was some cleaning to do, then she remembered to check her ticket. Recalling the moment she discovered her big win, she said: “I couldn’t believe it. I had to pinch myself to see if it was a dream.”

Mind-boggled

Her partner was having a nap but not for much longer. He was concerned that something was wrong because as his partner says, “I was so crazy.” Once she calmed down, the Oz Lotto winner asked him to check the ticket. “He was mind-boggled when he saw the prize amount,” she laughed.

The jackpot winner was shaking and crying but “felt so much joy.” It’s still hard for her to believe that she’s now a multi-millionaire. Celebratory glasses of wine with her family followed and a dinner in the evening.

Plans for the Oz Lotto windfall include renovating her mother’s house. A new home for herself is on the shopping list and travelling around the world. “This multi-million-dollar prize will mean I can relax and enjoy life,” said the delighted winner.

The winning ticket was purchased from The Old Bank Centre in Nabiac. Centre owner Jo-Ann Wickenden said it was the first division one winning entry her shop had sold in ten years of being in business.
