JUDGE DECIDES THAT A DREAM £1M EUROMILLIONS WIN HAS TO BE SHARED

Waiter Fatih Ozcan dreamt that he and his boss would win the lottery. When the dream came true his boss refused to share their EuroMillions £1m winnings. A judge has now ordered that the payment be equally split between the pair.The High Court was told that on the night of January 29th, 2012, Ozcan dreamt that he was holding a large bundle of cash, and standing in front of him, was his boss. Being a strong believer in the power of dreams, he saw this as an opportunity not to be missed. He spent three hours trying to persuade his manager to play the EuroMillions draw that day. Eventually Kucukkoylu, 47, gave in and the pair agreed to jointly choose the numbers and share the required stake.The waiter went to a supermarket to buy tickets for the draw which he then handed to his boss; however Mr Ozcan kept the receipt. Amazingly the waiter’s dream came true but it turned into a nightmare when his boss refused to share the winnings. A heated argument followed with Ozcan being threatened.The upset waiter contacted Camelot and falsely told them his winning ticket had been stolen by Kucukkoylu. Three days later his boss was arrested and spent nine hours in police custody before being released. Ozcan admitted to his lie but said that the abusive behaviour of his boss had left him “fearful for his safety.”During the case CCTV footage was shown from the Kapadokya Turkish restaurant in York that showed the EuroMillions slips being filled in. It suggested both men had chosen the numbers and each paid half the stake.In his ruling, Judge Gosnell said that Mr Ozcan was “an admitted liar” but his story was “inherently more plausible.” The Judge believed that the waiter’s dream was the reason that the pair chose numbers and shared the £9 stake. He ruled that “Mr Kucukkoylu and Mr Ozcan entered into a contract to jointly play the lottery on an equal basis.
