Irish EuroMillions Winner Claims Massive Jackpot of £152m
Less than 24 hours after the draw, the Irish EuroMillions winner of the €175m (£152.4m) jackpot has come forward to claim their prize.
Jackpot Finally Won
The jackpot had been climbing since the recent Superdraw on February 1, 2019. After several rollovers, the top prize was won in the February 19 draw. We imagine there must have been a massive celebration by the delighted winner. Their ticket successfully matched 01-08-18-19-39 and the two Lucky Stars 07 and 09.A spokesperson for the Irish National Lottery
confirmed today they had been contacted by the lucky Irish EuroMillions winner. They hope to be able to confirm where the winning ticket was sold soon.
Record Irish EuroMillions Winner
The massive win is the largest ever EuroMillions jackpot won by a ticket sold in Ireland. The previous highest win was the €115m (£99m) won by Dolores McNamara in July 2005. Overall, this latest success is the 14th time that a ticket sold in that country has landed the jackpot.National Lottery chief executive Dermot Griffin is delighted for the winner. He said that 2019 has already been “an incredibly lucky period” for Irish players.
The Luck of the Irish
This latest big win follows the £115m (€127m) EuroMillions jackpot won by
Frances and Patrick Connolly of Northern Ireland in the 2019 New Year’s Day draw. No wonder Mr Griffin declared: “The luck of the Irish is definitely in the air.”It’s not known yet whether the lucky winner will reveal their identity or remain anonymous. At least we haven’t had to wait too long for the winner to come forward.Five other tickets sold for last night’s draw also had reason to celebrate. They won the second-tier prize with one ticket sold in the UK winning £199,928.90. Four more sold in France, Switzerland and Luxembourg won €317,493/CHF481,522.45.
