Holy Batman! Syndicate Wins $633,000 Saturday Lotto Prize

A group of friends from Coburg in Victoria, Australia, have won a $633,000 Saturday Lotto prize. Their good luck in the February 19 draw came after two decades of buying tickets.

Their ticket was one of nine division one winners in that draw. In all, they will share a total of $633,095.20. The syndicate members have asked to remain anonymous, but their leader has spoken about their Saturday Lotto windfall.

It was first thing on Sunday morning that their good fortune was discovered. “I went numb when I saw we’d won division one!” said the syndicate leader. “I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak. It was debilitating,” he added.

Disbelief

At the time he was sitting next to his wife, and she was in disbelief too. “She kept saying, ‘Check it again! No, do it again! Is that real? What the hell!’. The ticket was checked “over and over again,” and it really had won a division one prize.

The syndicate includes some of his best friends and they’ve been waiting nearly two decades for a win like this. He soon got on the phone to start spreading the amazing news. “Everyone was so happy! It was a great way to end the week,” said the excited syndicate leader.

He says there hasn’t been too much time to decide how to spend their share of the Saturday Lotto winnings. Paying off their mortgage is likely, and a holiday overseas later in 2022. Before that, some celebrations are planned.

Time to celebrate

Those began with him opening his finest bottle of scotch and possibly invite some of the other syndicate members to join him. Then later in the week, a celebratory meal with them is planned by the Saturday Lotto winner.
