HOLLYWOOD ACTOR URGES PLAYERS TO VOTE IN NATIONAL LOTTERY AWARDS

A famous Hollywood actor who is also an ambassador for the National Lottery has urged players to vote for the finalists in the National Lottery awards 2018.The National Lottery awards celebrate lottery funded projects who do extraordinary things, and the inspirational people that help them to succeed. Actor Michael Sheen is an ambassador for the lottery, and he is urging people to vote for their favourite National Lottery funded project, the nominees of which we announced earlier this year.One of the finalists is the Hartlepool Hawks Cheerleading team, who previously received £9,000 from the National Lottery to help them set up, and now they are up against six other projects from around the UK. “I am immensely proud of the incredible work these National Lottery funded projects deliver day in and day out in our communities throughout the UK,” said Mr Sheen. We’ve often told you about projects around the UK which have been funded by the National Lottery, such as a mental health service in Brighton which received £312,086 earlier this year.“My message is simple – these extraordinary finalists need your support, so please get voting!” Once voting closes, an awards ceremony will be broadcast on BBC One on September 26^th and the project with the most votes will win £5,000 and a trophy to commemorate their achievement. The People’s Postcode Lottery are also hoping to raise more money for charity thanks to their players.Beccii Taylor, head coach of the Hartlepool Hawks told National Lottery officials how much they are hoping for their local community to get behind them. “We hope Hartlepool supports us. It would be good to show on a national scale the good things going on in the town and how we are doing something to change the lives of young children.” A couple who won £6.6 million on the UK Lotto have said that their win certainly changed the lives of their children and grandchildren, while a £7.6 million UK Lotto winner from Sheffield in England became the country’s most charitable lottery winner.If they win the award, they also hope that it will help to highlight within the UK cheerleading as a sport which involves a wide range of dance, gymnastics and fitness.
