Hectic Day at Work for $22.2 million Australian Powerball Winner
A woman from St Clair in Sydney, Australia let out a huge scream while at work. The lucky player had just discovered she’d won a $22.2 million Australian Powerball jackpot.
Her big win came in the draw held on September 19. In total, her win was a fantastic $22,207,849.80. While asking to remain anonymous, we do know that the Australian Powerball winner is a mother in her 30s.
The ticket that won her the jackpot had been registered with the lottery company. That meant they knew exactly who had won the $22 million top prize.but did the actual winner already know?
That’s not always the case and sometimes the first time a player knows of their win is when receiving a phone call. That wasn’t so here as the Sydney resident had just minutes beforehand checked her Australian Powerball ticket.
Can’t stop shaking
“What the heck!” screamed the delighted but rather shocked winner. “Oh my god. I can’t stop shaking. I’m just speechless,” added the Australian Powerball winner.
When thinking about how the win will change her life, one instant thought entered her head. “I can now buy a house!” declared the newest multi-millionaire in Australia who continued, “My family and I will be set up for life!”
$11 Win?
That wasn’t her initial thought though. At first she thought her win was just $11 but then discovered her $22.2 million windfall.
Recalling that magical moment, the Australian Powerball winner said: “ I couldn’t help but yell out to everyone, ‘I won the $20 million!’” Keeping her concentration for the rest of her day at work wasn’t going to be easy. “Luckily my day isn’t too busy,” she joked. A $15 million Oz Lotto winner also struggled to concentrate at work after discovering his big win.
The big winner isn’t a regular lottery player, only when there’s a big jackpot. “I saw the $20 million and I thought that would be nice,” she said with a big smile on her face. “What a crazy Friday morning. I’ll be having a very nice weekend now.”
