HAS £148M EUROMILLIONS WINNER GILLIAN BAYFORD BOUGHT A CASTLE IN FIFE?

Gillian Bayford from Carnoustie in Scotland has often been in the headlines since winning a £148m EuroMillions jackpot in 2012 with her ex-husband Adrian. Now it’s believed she is the mystery buyer of a Scottish castle.Earlier this year, it was revealed that a price of £619,990 had been agreed for the 19th century Chesterhill House, near Newport, that’s more than three times the asking price. It’s not the first big property purchase for the EuroMillions winner. She’s previously bought Oor Golfer, Oor Wheelie, Oor Bowie, Minecraft and Woodlands at a charity auction. Her husband, Adrian who she won the £148m EuroMillions windfall with also went into the property market.Chesterhill House was put on the market for offers over £200,000 and 15 people came forward to bid for it with interest coming from the USA and New Zealand. Estate agents Bell Ingram carried out bulk viewings for the property and after arranging 156 visits, they decided not to arrange any more. Then on the final day of offers, the bid of £619,990 was made which was “significantly” more than expected. Carl Warden, senior associate at Bell Ingram, said: “I haven’t seen that in our situation since the end of 2008. Since the credit crunch it is very unusual.”Mrs Bayford has been keeping quiet over the purchase but told the Scottish Sun that: ““This is in the middle of going through the Registers of Scotland and stuff. It’s all being dealt with by solicitors. It wasn’t me.”Life hasn’t always been easy for Gillian since her £148m EuroMillions win and last year spoke of the problems she’d had with her family. She is a great supporter of local charities and earlier this year the EuroMillions winner paid £80,000 for the last Oor Wullie bucket trail statue, in an auction that raised cash for the ARCHIE Foundation and donated £64,000 to their Tayside Children’s Hospital appeal.Chesterhill House, which is effectively a small castle also come with three acres of land. However, the three-floor home is said to need “complete renovation” with the detached garages on the site in a state of disrepair. In the USA, James Lapeze from Louisiana, USA, used part of his $1m Powerball win to rebuild his home that had been damaged by flooding. Perhaps Gillian should contact Canadian Terry Sigurdson who won a $500,000 Lotto 6/49 prize and intended to build his own home.Try your hand at the lottery game and purchase your tickets online at Lottery24.com.
