Grandmother Forgot Buying $150,000 Winning Scratchcard

Sometimes you just forget that a scratchcard purchase has been made. That’s what happened to Leanne from Pimpama in Queensland, Australia. Finally, she remembered and discovered a $150,000 win.

Her Countdown to Christmas scratchcard was purchased from the Pimpama Lotto & News store. Leanne was having a bad day so needed something to cheer her up. However, she then forgot buying it and a week passed.

Finally, she remembered buying the scratchcard and a massive shock was on its way. “When I saw the top prize win, I didn’t believe it. It was exhilarating but completely unbelievable!” A fair amount of jumping up and down and screaming followed.

Her husband was told about the $150,000 scratchcard win but her husband thought It was only $150. His wife was correct though and she kept on checking the ticket.

When the $150,000 prize was claimed, the couple went to the Lottery HQ in style. Her husband arranged a limo to take her there, making the occasion “extra special.”

It had already been an exciting time for the couple. They had taken over guardianship of four grandchildren. This scratchcard success is “life-changing” for the couple and their family.

Their winnings are going to be used to put a deposit on a house. “We need a bigger place for the kids! The rest we’ll use to look after them,” said Leanne. She added that the scratchcard win “means the absolute world to me.”

“It’s given us security for the kids, which is the most important thing. It’s come at the best time,” said the scratchcard winner. Leanne said that she told her husband that he’d be on babysitting duty as she was going to go to her favourite local pub and celebrate her win.

Donna Norton sold her the winning scratchcard. She said that there weren’t many of the Countdown to Christmas scratchcards left that day. She therefore told Leanne “Buy one of these! One might be a winner.” Little did Donna know how true those words were.
