Good Mistake leads to £60,000 People’s Postcode Lottery Win
Four neighbours in a street in Stanmore, London, England had People’s Postcode Lottery wins on January 22. Three each won £30,000 but a “good mistake” led one to have two tickets and win double that amount.
It was Tak-Kwong who held two tickets and therefore won £60,000. He just couldn’t believe his People’s Postcode Lottery win. “You see the adverts on TV. You just hear it – you want to believe it. You wait for the day and today’s the day.”
He also has family in Hong Kong, while his wife has relatives in China. Due to the pandemic, they haven’t been able to see them. “Now we can look at having a little trip,” said the delighted People’s Postcode Lottery winner.
All about my family
Tak, who works as a police despatcher, plans on using his People’s Postcode Lottery win to “spoil his family.” Headded: “I’m all about my family – as long as they’re happy, I’m happy. I’m not materialistic, so nothing for me, just for them.”
His wife would love something from Tiffany’s and one of his sons needs a new laptop. The other is keen on having a gaming chair. The lucky winner explained why he had two People’s Postcode Lottery tickets, thus doubling his prize.
He believed there was an error with the first ticket purchased, so bought another one. There wasn’t anything wrong with the initial ticket, but he laughed: “It was a good mistake now.”
Mother-of-two Karen was also a winner but only of £30,000. It’s a win she is very pleased about though. “It means a lot actually, it's really good after Christmas and after the last two years we've had."
A tan at last
Karen was made redundant twice in the past couple of years. She added: “It’s just a great feeling to know we’ll be able to spoil ourselves as it’s been tough.” That will include taking her six-year-old granddaughter to EuroDisney and for herself a trip “somewhere hot and sunny.” She joked that it’d be her first holiday anywhere in four years and “I desperately need a tan.”
