Foster Mother Wins £150,000 Postcode Lottery Prize
A £150,000 Postcode Lottery win by Nadene from Darlington in England, is great news for her. It’s not such good news for a local gardener as a planned makeover has now been canceled.
The North East England foster-carer had been planning on her back garden being given a makeover. Thanks to this Postcode Lottery win, those plans have been changed and a home extension is now planned.
“We've always got a house full of people, so it'll just give us that extra space that we need,” said the delighted Postcode Lottery winner.
Massive month
June had already been a big month for Nadene and her husband Paul. They’d been to a posh spa to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
The delighted winner said that it just doesn’t “feel like it’s real.” That hadn’t stopped her thinking of ways in which the Postcode Lottery win will be spent.
Her long overdue two-storey extension will include a larger dining room, additional bedroom and kitchen and shower room facilities.
For nearly 17 years, Nadene has been a foster carer looking after over 40 children. She also has two grown-up children of her own and a couple of grandchildren and is soon taking them to the Canary Islands.
Speaking about her work as a foster carer, she said: “I think it's just about giving these children a better life, giving them a better start in life and helping them where you can.” All her family will now be receiving treats.
Quadruple winner
Also celebrating is Mark from Borehamwood in Essex, England. He won a £500,000 Postcode Lottery prize after mistakenly buying four tickets.
He’d actually canceled his tickets for a while but then started playing again in December 2022. A Wokingham player nearly quit playing the Postcode Lottery, but then won £100,000
When sorting out his Direct Debit, he purchased three tickets rather than one. Unsure that had worked he then bought another one.
He’s also wanting to build an extension, not for people though but to house his 4,000 plus vinyl record collection.
