Former Professional Footballer Wins £1 million National Lottery Prize
Former professional footballer Terry Kennedy had to retire due to injury. It seems he’s a lot luckier playing the National lottery and he’s celebrating a £1 million win.
The 28-year-old used to be a defender for English Championship side Sheffield United. He was nicknamed ‘the ginger John Terry’ after the former England international. Three years ago, his footballing career came to and end due to a recurring knee injury.
Are you ready?
Terry was at work when he realized that his National lottery ticket had won £1 million. Disbelieving his enormous slice of luck, he got on the phone to Camelot to confirm that he had become a lottery millionaire.
Viral video footage has shown the moment that Terry was told that he’d won a £1 million National lottery prize. The lottery employee asks him if he’s ready to be told the news. Holding his ticket and with a big smile on his face, he replies: “No, I don’t think I am.”
Oh my God
He’s then asked if he’d like to sit down and is then told: “I can confirm that you have won £1 million.” While the former footballer looks emotional, his friends in the background begin to celebrate his National Lottery win. All Terry can say is ‘Oh my God.”
The National Lottery winner played for several teams during his career. He was most successful at Sheffield United and at one stage played in the same youth team as future England player Harry Maguire.
However, injuries affected him throughout his career, causing him to miss entire seasons before finally being released by the Yorkshire club in 2016. He went on to play in non-league football with Alfreton, Harrogate Town, and Guiseley.
That was a decision that was hugely disappointed for the player. He went on to social media and wrote: “Strange to be leaving the club I’ve been at since I was seven years old.” He added: “Been a frustrating season personally as I feel I didn’t get a fair chance but that’s football.” Now he’s back on social media with a far happier story to tell about his National Lottery success.
