Former Manchester United Player Wins £400,000 Postcode Lottery Prize
Manchester United haven’t had a successful season but a former player has reason to celebrate. Clive Bull from Gotham in Nottinghamshire, England has won a £400,000 prize playing the Postcode Lottery.
It was back in 1957 that he joined United as a schoolboy. Matt Busby was the manager then and he signed his contract in the legendary manager’s office. His mother was there too and always joked: “one of the greatest kicks I’ve had in my life was being able to kiss Matt Busby.”
He played alongside future legend Nobby Stiles before joining Nottingham Forest. The winger’s career ended early due to knee injuries. Former professional footballer Terry Kennedy won a £1 million EuroMillions prize.
Now aged 82, his luck has changed with this great Postcode Lottery win. Recently, £65 million EuroMIllions winners Patrick and Frances Connolly invested in a women’s football club.
Absolutely staggered
The lucky winner says that he has been “absolutely staggered” by his Postcode Lottery success. He added: “It opens up so many possibilities. I’m overwhelmed to be quite honest. It’s beyond what I could ever have dreamt.”
How will he be spending his winnings? He won’t be helping Manchester United pay for their proposed £2 billion new stadium. Instead, he will be paying for a holiday for his family which has 22 members (two football teams!). “That would be my dream for all of us to go away,” he said.
Skegness?
Where would they go? He joked that they might go to the English seaside resort of Skegness but then said it might be a “little bit nippy” so “somewhere a bit warmer is being planned.”.
The Postcode Lottery winner also plans on giving financial assistance to all his seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. “I’m sure they’ll be over the moon, probably more than me,” said their proud great-grandfather.
Sadly, his wife passed away three years ago. With tears in his eyes, her widow commented: “The overwhelming disappointment is she’s not here to see it, but she’s a big part of this.”
