Forgotten Purchase Wins $2.5 million Saturday Lotto Prize

A woman from Canberra in Australia went to bed without knowing she had won $2.5 million in the March 29 Saturday Lotto draw. That’s because the occasional player had forgotten entering the draw.

Huge surprise

The next morning she remembered buying a ticket so checked it and discovered her $2.5 million win. Not surprisingly, she said it was “a huge surprise to wake up to.”  At first, the shocked woman thought it was a dream and admitted; “ I genuinely had to pinch myself.

A cup of coffee settled her down a bit but when speaking to the lottery company later, the lucky player said: “I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.” A woman from the Central Coast  spent two weeks before discovering her $2.14 million Saturday Lotto win.

Just like many players who have six-figure wins, she declared:  I can’t believe I can say I’m a millionaire.”Plans for her winnings include buying herself her own home and going on a coastal getaway.

It can be a bit worrying when your front door is banged in the early hours of the morning. However, this time it was just a New South Wales syndicate being told they had  also won $2.5 million in the March 29 Saturday Lotto draw..

Their syndicate leader discovered the win just before going to bed.  That’s just what a $60 million Australian Powerball winner also did.  

Even though she had her glasses on, the surprised player admits: “I thought I was seeing double.” and kept cleaning her glasses and again checking the result.

The delighted player was eager to spread the good news. “I went around to all their houses, banging on their doors and waking them up. Then I brought them all to my place and broke the news,” recalled the Saturday Lotto winner.

The syndicate consists of a group of friends, some of whom have known each other for over 30 years. A celebratory dinner is on its way and they are busy deciding how to spend their windfall.
