First Time Player Wins $50 million Australian Powerball Prize
First time lucky’ is a popular saying and it’s really come true for a player in Australia. A man from Preston in Victoria entered the Australian Powerball draw for the first time and won $50 million.
He’s asked to remain anonymous but we do know the Australian Powerball winner is in his 20s. His was one of two tickets that shared the $100 million jackpot in the November 28 draw. The other jackpot winners are a couple from Rockhampton in Queensland.
His ticket wasn’t registered so the lottery organizers had to wait for him to claim his share of the Australian Powerball jackpot. The Greater Melbourne resident checked his ticket right after the draw had been made. “It feels unreal! It’s unbelievable. I’m speechless right now. I can’t wrap my head around it,” said the shocked winner.
He was hoping for a good night’s sleep as he admitted “I barely got any last night after checking my ticket.”
That’s not surprising considered he had just won $50 million. He had played other lotteries in the past but this was the first time he’d tried his luck on Australian Powerball. “When I saw the jackpot had reached $100 million, I thought I may as well buy a ticket,” he explained.
Now he feels like “nothing is going to hold me back anymore.” He added: “It really feels like I could do whatever I want, like the world is my oyster.”
Even though he’s a multi-millionaire, he will continue working as he enjoys it so much. That’s not going to be the case for his parents. The generous Australian Powerball winner will ensure they can now retire immediately. His main aim is to “make sure I keep my feet on the ground.”
His winning Australian Powerball ticket was bought from Northland Lotto & News in Preston. The store is owned by Etham Nourazari who said he was “in shock” when hearing the news.
He’s not long been the owner of the store and this is the first division one winning ticket he’s sold.
