First Time Player Wins $390,000 Lucky For Life Jackpot
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again is how the saying goes. Not for Shayla Kauflin from Warren in Michigan, USA though. Her first entry into the Lucky For Life lottery saw her win $25,000 a year for life.
Why not?
The extremely lucky 39-year-old was buying a Powerball ticket when deciding to also enter the October 9 Lucky For Life draw. Shayla saw the draw advertised online and thought to herself: “Why not?” and bought some tickets. Little could she have imagined how trying out a new game would change her life.
The day after the draw the Michigan resident checked the results and was staggered at what she saw. “I logged in to my lottery account the next day to see if I’d won anything, and when I saw $390,000 pending, I started screaming, crying, and freaking out!” said the Lucky For Life winner.
Is something wrong?
Telling someone you’ve just won a big lottery prize is not an easy task. This delighted Lucky For Life winner instantly contacted her husband to tell him how much had been won. However, he initially showed concern believing that something might be wrong.
The successful Set For Life player has accepted her windfall as a one-off lump sum payment of $390,000 rather than receiving $25,000 annually for 20 years.
Her win has been claimed and plans for the future include investing some of her winnings. A Disney themed family vacation is also being looked forward to.
Above all the win takes financial pressure off the winner. “It feels like the weight of the world has been taken off my shoulders. It may not be enough money to change the world, but it’s enough money to change my world,” said the overjoyed winner.
Earlier this year, Ronald Durham also won a big prize in the Lucky For Life draw. His May success saw him win $25,000 a year for life. It wasn’t his first big win either. In 2014, he was the lucky winner of a $250,000 prize playing KENO!
