Near Miss Followed By $795,905 Fantasy 5 Jackpot Next Day
How many times do you miss out on a jackpot by just one number? A 53-year-old man from Michigan, USA, did just that and won $100. The following day he won a $795.905 Fantasy 5 jackpot.
The Macomb County resident says he always buys Fantasy 5 tickets when the jackpot goes over $250,000. Usually he goes to a local store to make his purchases. However, on July 27 he realised that he’d forgotten to get a ticket. He quickly went online to buy two tickets.
An Australian woman won a $1 million Monday & Wednesday Saturday Lotto prize with a ticket purchased just before the deadline.
Not long after the Fantasy 5 draw, he received an email telling him he’d won $1. Soon after, another email was received and it asked him to log into his account. Puzzled at what was going on, he did just that and discovered his $795,905 win.
This is real
At first he believed it was a scam but when he went to Michigan Lottery HQ to claim his winnings, he finally convinced himself that “this is real.”
He explained how the night before he’d won $100 for matching four of the five numbers. Better luck next time is a common saying. This player admitted: “I never could have imagined then that the next night I would actually win the jackpot!”
When asked what plans he had for his Fantasy 5 winnings, he said that most of it would be invested.
Holiday surprise
His win came a fortnight after three players shared a $697,974 Fantasy 5 jackpot. One of the winners was 73–year-old David Constantakis from Wayne County.
He was on holiday in Frankfort when deciding to buy some tickets. They were purchased as he was buying some snacks ahead of a canoe trip.
Later, he and his wife checked the Fantasy 5 results and discovered their jackpot win. The couple now plan to pay off their home, make some charitable donations and save the rest of their windfall.
