Family Numbers Win $60m Australian Powerball prize

Sometimes you don’t want to answer the phone and just let it ring and ring. That wasn’t the case for a man from Canberra. He had a “feeling” it was lottery officials contacting him to tell him of his $60 million Australian Powerball win.

His ticket was the only one to match 01-06-11-16-17-22-29 and the Powerball 02 in the Australian Powerball draw held on June 30. He’d been continually using the same numbers for the draw and all were inspired by his large family.

His luck was certainly in for that draw. Not only did he win the $60 million top prize but he had 19 division two wins. That boosted his overall winnings to $60,701,558.85.

When he answered his phone on the very first ring, he was still shocked to realise it was The Lott calling him. “Are you serious?” was his instant reply. “I’m laughing. I’m lost for words. I’m pacing around,” he added.

Such was his surprise at being told he was a multi-millionaire, the Australian Powerball winner thought he might have a heart attack. He then explained how he had a feeling The Lott would be calling him that evening. “They’re going to call me at 8.30pm tonight” had been in his mind.

He didn’t quite believe his Australian Powerball win and was wondering how to tell his family the news. Just how could he convince them that they had won the jackpot and another 19 prizes. He even asked The Lott if they could be on standby to convince his family of the amazing news he had for them.

 The Australian Powerball winner said that he’s been “dreaming of this day forever.” He’s determined to ensure his winnings will mean all of them are looked after.

His working days are most definitely over now. He added that it’s been a tough year and he’ll be paying off bills and “enjoy living debt-free.”  A long overdue family holiday will also be enjoyed.
