Family Members Share $2 million Scratchcard Win

It’s always good to keep a win in the family. That’s what has happened to four relatives from Ontario in Canada who have won $2 million on a scratchcard.

The four family members have been playing the Ontario lottery together for a period of eight years. They had agreed that any winnings would be shared. However, they probably never imagined that one win would be so high.They are now celebrating winning the top prize in the Instant $2 Million Extreme scratchcard game.

One of the lucky winners comes from Gardner, Newfoundland with the other three residing in Hamilton, Ontario.

Disbelief

Patricia Swayze was one of the delighted winners. The scratchcard had been purchased from a Mix & Food Mart in Hamilton.  When she scratched off the scratchcard that had cost $20, a massive shock was awaiting her.

"When I scratched the ticket and saw the $2 million, I couldn't believe it," said Patricia. "I ran up to Natasha to show her, and she suggested we check on the OLG App to be sure. I was in disbelief!"

There was no need to be disbelieving the $2 million scratchcard win. The app was checked, the win confirmed and it was time to start celebrating.

Natasha says that her share of the scratchcard winnings will be used to pay off her mortgage. Some travelling is also on her spending list. Patricia and the sole male member of the four winners want to use their share to visit family. The remaining family member, Shawnna Chenier, says she’ll now be able to purchase a house. I feel grateful,” Chenier said about the win.

It’s been a big month for scratchcard players in Hamilton. 75-year-old Marion Richardson won $77,777 playing Instant Diamond 7s. The lucky player discovered her win while having a cup of coffee.

An unreal feeling

“When I realised I won, I began to shake – the feeling was unreal!" said the scratchcard winner. She added that the win makes her feel “very blessed.” Plans for her win include buying some furniture and sharing her windfall with others.
