Family Comes First for £250,000 Postcode Lottery Winners
Alan and Yvonne Stanley from Hull in East Yorkshire, must be one of the most generous great-great grandparents in England. Once they have had some dream holidays, they have decided to let their family have their January 8, £250,000 People’s Postcode lottery win.
The couple have declared: “It’s up to them to decide who gets what.” That’s great news for their six grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Their big win came thanks to their postcode HU7 4HZ. That saw them win £250,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery’s Postcode Millions draw.
Our Children can have it
A delighted Yvonne said: "We’ll give it to the children and it’s up to them to decide who gets what. Obviously, people are struggling right now so it will be a nice surprise!” While others will be treated, they still won’t be “as happy as us though,” said Alan, 75.
Holidays Planned
Not that they won’t have any share of their People’s Postcode Lottery win. The couple are planning a dream holiday sometime in the future. That’s not so easy at present but when restrictions are eased, there’ll be no holding them as Yvonne explains. “If we could fly off somewhere, we’d be flying off tomorrow!”
Their plans include a “big touring holiday. Australia or Canada, somewhere like that,” added her husband. He also wants to go to Egypt so he can see the pyramids.
News of their big win was revealed in a video call with lottery ambassador Judie McCourt. When told the amazing news, Alan said: “I’m dumbstruck. I don’t know what to say. It’s unbelievable. I honestly cannot believe it.”
When his wife was asked if she’d be celebrating her win said she’d have a gin and tonic. That’s not helpful for her Slimming World diet but it’s not every day a big People’s Postcode Lottery win comes along is it?
There were five other players who were lucky enough to win £250,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery draw. They include 70-year-old Stephen Ward. He said “I don’t mind being in lockdown with that in the bank. We can sit at home wondering how to spend it.”
