Excited £1m EuroMillions Winner Went into Early Labour
Winning a £1 million EuroMillions prize is obviously a bit of a shock. For Natalie Metcalf from Thornbury in England, it caused her to go into labour early.
It was in February 2019 that Natalie, 39, and her partner Andy Symes, 43, scooped a £1 million win. Now they are getting married at a country house in Somerset, England. They had an appointment with their National Lottery Winners’ Advisor. However, it had to be cancelled when Natalie went in to labour. Just after midday she gave birth to Poppy.
What?
Natalie recalled that amazing event and said her early labour was “a result of the excitement of winning the lottery.” When she was in the recovery ward, she surprised the midwife by telling her “I should be at home now spending a million pounds.” All the midwife could say in reply was “what?”
The EuroMillions winners have spent the past couple of years planning their dream wedding. It was due to be July 4, 2020. That’s already a special day for them as that was the date in 2015 that they first met.
Andy has a lost backpack to thank for meeting Natalie. She found it, contacted him on social media and met up to return it to him. Amazingly, they had been working for the same company but had never met each other.
The ongoing pandemic caused their wedding to be delayed. Now they will be getting married on July 24, with 50 friends and Poppy and their son, Noah, 4, will be Flower Girl and Page Boy.
A more comfortable life
Andy still works as a payroll supervisor but says he does so “through choice.” The couple have spent their EuroMillions win wisely. “An incredible win like ours makes life more comfortable and means you don’t have a mortgage and can have the nicer holidays,” he added.
Natalie is a full-time mother and that’s all thanks to their EuroMillions win. She describes it as “a luxury I never thought possible.” The couple also joke about wanting another child. After all, last time Natalie was pregnant, they won the lottery!
