EuroMillions Winning Ticket Worth £1m Goes Unclaimed

A EuroMillions winning ticket in the Cheshire area of England has failed to claim their £1m prize before its expiry date.

180 Days to Claim Their Prize

The unlucky player won the prize in the EuroMillions draw held on September 11, 2018. Ticket-holders have 180 days in which to claim their winnings but that deadline of March 10 has now passed. Sadly, the winner of the £1m EuroMillions prize never came forward and the winnings have been lost forever.Sometimes winners do take a while to claim their prizes. Andrew Clark took six weeks before discovering his big win of £76m. Over in the USA, the winner of the record-breaking $1.5bn Mega Millions jackpot last October didn’t claim their prize until earlier this month.Their ticket had been lucky enough to match one of the two Millionaire Maker Codes that were part of the EuroMillions draw. National Lottery, senior winners' advisor, Andy Carter, said that they had “tried very hard to find the ticket-holder.”

Mr Carter gave this piece of advice: "To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.”The owner of the £1m EuroMillions ticket may not be a winner but it’s not all bad news. The money and all the interest earned since September 11 will go to the Good Causes Fund. That means community projects around the UK will benefit from the additional funds.Every week, an estimated £30m is raised by lottery players to help individuals and communities.
