EUROMILLIONS WINNER ADRIAN BAYFORD USES MANSION TO SAVE ROCK FESTIVAL
Adrian Bayford, one of the UK’s most notorious EuroMillions winners, has used his fortune, and his back garden, to save a cancelled rock festival.Mr Bayford, who won £148 million on the EuroMillions lottery together with his ex-wife Gillian back in 2012, has saved the Cambridge Rock Festival that was due to be cancelled. On the weekend of August 3rd, the EuroMillions winner offered up his entire 90-acre estate to festival organisers for free, so that music fans weren’t disappointed with the cancellation.“When I found out the festival had been kicked off their old venue, I had to help,” Mr Bayford told the local press in Cambridge. “It makes me feel good to see so many people having fun.”The EuroMillions winner, who has had a mix of positive and negative press about him since his big lottery win five years ago, especially after he divorced his wife and moved his new fiancée into his mansion, told locals that he wanted to be able to share his privileged position. “I have the land, so I’m in a fortunate position where I can help the festival carry on.”Lots of lottery winners like to help the local community after winning, including a group of lottery winners from Suffolk who recently clubbed together to give a community hospice a makeover. The Cambridge Rock Festival has been shortlisted as the best medium sized UK festival, and is in its 13th year. More than 1,000 people descended upon Mr Bayford’s property, which he bought in Linton, Cambridgeshire after the EuroMillions win, over the four-day weekend. The lottery winner was spotted enjoying the festival atmosphere, just like one member of a EuroMillions winning family, who went off to camp with her friends at a music festival instead of joining her family on a celebratory holiday.Another lottery winner who enjoyed a festival was Sharin McCourt from Derry in Northern Ireland who took home £250,000 on the National Lottery, and headed out to buy some new wellies for an upcoming festival. Organisers of the festival talked about how the event has grown from a small local festival to a performance of nationally and internationally known acts, as well as an opportunity to promote new, local, and upcoming bands as well.A lottery win could surprise you anytime: purchase your tickets online now at Lottery24.com.
