€500,000 EuroMillions Winners Heading to Thailand and Australia

A couple from Co Meath in Ireland have had a perfect start to the new year. They won €500,000 in the January 3 EuroMillions  draw and can’t wait to visit Thailand and Australia.

The lucky winners decided to check their ticket online after hearing of a €500,000 win in Ratoath. That was where their Quick Pick ticket had been purchased. “Maybe it was us?” they thought to themselves. After the all-important checking of their EuroMillions ticket, all they could say was “sure enough it was us.”

The male half of the couple decided to go back to the store where their ticket had been purchased. His plan was to buy some champagne to celebrate their EuroMillions win but it didn’t go as he planned.

When he got to the counter, the staff member asked him if he’d heard of the €500,000 EuroMillions ticket being sold there. Part of him wanted to reveal that he and his partner were the winning players. However, he just smiled and then lied that it wasn’t him who had bought it.

The couple say that their win is a “life-changing” one and that they “could not be more thrilled.”  Plans for their €500,000 EuroMillions win include being able to pay off their mortgage.

Doing so is great news for them as it means they can “finally spend our salaries on us!”  No sign therefore of them quitting their jobs with a statement like that.

That’s like a man from Sydney, Australia who  carried on working even after his $13.33 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

They have family in Australia so a trip down under is on the way. The plan is to stop off in Thailand on the way.

Also celebrating a big win is a scratchcard player from Dublin, Ireland. He won  €200,000 but initially believed he’d only won €20,000. The real win was only revealed when his son double-checked the scratchcard.
