€250,000 Winning Irish Lotto Ticket Kept in €5 Handbag

Filing cabinets and handbags are usually the place where important items are stored. For an Irish family from Co Galway, they used them to keep a €250,000 winning Irish Lotto ticket safe.

Their big win came in the Irish Lotto draw held on Saturday May 13. Their ticket was lucky enough to match all of the five numbers that were drawn out.

None of the family syndicate members were able to see the draw live. In fact it wasn’t until two days after the Irish Lotto draw, that their ticket was checked. The winners have asked to remain anonymous but have spoken to lottery officials about their success.

One of them recalled how they were sitting in their car when the ticket was finally checked. When they started reading the numbers that had been chosen they couldn’t believe what was happening. 

Pure Joy

“I closed my eyes, then opened them and read the numbers over and over again. My stomach jumped and my whole body started to shake,” said the surprised player. He then started to call the other family members with the incredible news. “There was laughing, cheering and crying. Just pure joy and excitement,” he recalled.

No one wants to lose a winning ticket, particularly one that is worth €250,000. While waiting to go to Dublin to collect their cheque from Lottery HQ,  A great deal of thought was put into where the Irish Lotto ticket should be kept. In the end, locking it up in a filing cabinet proved to be the safest option.

Cheap handbag
