€100,000 Irish Lotto Win Was Actually €2.2 million!

A family from Kerry in Ireland thought they’d recently won a €100,000 Irish Lotto prize. Imagine their shock when they discovered that their win was actually a  €2.2 million jackpot.

Their slice of luck came in the Irish Lotto draw held on February 19. One of the family members has been speaking about how they found out about their big win.

He had been listening to the local radio station and heard the news of a big Irish Lotto win in Kerry.  Another local player won a €1 million prize on the Irish Lotto  2023 and nearly crashed his car.

It was his wife who had bought their weekly ticket so he rushed home to see if she’d checked the results.

How much?

That wasn’t the case so they went online to see if their ticket was a winner. It was indeed but his wife thought they had only won €100,000. Then her husband took another look and realised their ticket had won the €2.2 million Irish Lotto jackpot.

Last year an Irish player  thought they’d won €10 but it turned out to be a €6.75 million Irish Lotto jackpot.

A family meeting was immediately arranged so the news of the syndicate’s Irish Lotto news could be announced.

The family has been speaking about their plans for the windfall. They include home improvements such as new windows and a kitchen. Some overseas holidays will also be taken.

The owner of the SuperValu shop where their winning ticket was purchased is Peter Keane, who used to manage the local Gaelic football team. It’s the most successful ticket he’s sold in 30 years.

Massive EuroMillions jackpot

Perhaps they will play Friday’s EuroMillions draw too. Last night’s draw again produced a rollover. No tickets were able to match: 13-36-37-42-47 and the two Lucky Stars 7 and 11.

That means that the jackpot in two days time will be an amazing €162 million (£143 million), the highest of the year.

Not since February 2022 has a ticket sold in Ireland won a EuroMillions jackpot.
