€1 million Lottery Wins Discovered While on Holiday
 

There were plenty of celebrations at Lotto HQ in Dublin, Ireland, as players collected their €1 lottery wins.

What a holiday

One of the lucky winners was a family syndicate from Kilkenny. They’d won a €1 million lottery prize on July 12. The family purchased their winning ticket while on holiday in Clifden, Co Galway.

Their syndicate manager recalled how she looked up the results on the National Lottery website. He then realised that the winning numbers matched those on their ticket. A phone call was immediately made to her husband telling him she had “important news” and “he better be sitting down.”

He didn’t initially believe the news of the €1 million win. Only when seeing the ticket did he accept what had happened. The syndicate have since had a big celebration and are busy planning on  how to spend their lottery winnings.  Ideas include a holiday to Portugal, a brand-new handbag and luxury spa trips.

Another big winner doesn’t even live in Ireland but Europe. She was on holiday in Kerry when winning €1 on July 26. It’s all been a big shock for her but she’ll have plenty to tell her friends when returning home later this month.

Also collecting their lottery winnings was a woman from Co Meath. Her €1 million win came in the June 28 draw. The lucky player had been using the same numbers for the past 18 years before this big win came along.

Out-of-body experience

The National Lottery claims team had tried to contact her but she was busy shopping and  missed the call. Eventually she called the number that appeared on her phone, not having an idea of her success. “I genuinely had an out-of-body experience, it was surreal!”

It wasn’t until the following day that she was able to tell her husband the news. He didn’t panic and was “as cool as a cucumber” when finally hearing about their win. They are now planning a family holiday and some of the winnings will be given to their children.
