A family from Dublin, Ireland don’t and when they finally did, were shocked to discover they’d won a EuroMillions Plus prize in the January 26 draw, though it took even longer to work out they’d won €500,000.The family have asked to remain anonymous, just like the recent $559.7m Powerball jackpot winner from New Hampshire, USA. It was the father of the family who checks their lottery tickets, but he admits that he’s very guilty of not checking them.He’s not the only one who does that through. In Michigan, USA, Linda Tuttle found a Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million among a pile of old mail.Finally, the lucky Dublin player got around to going through a bundle of old lottery tickets when cleaning out a drawer in their kitchen. He went online to see if any were winners and was surprised to see a message from the National Lottery asking him to contact them. He admits "I hadn’t a clue what was going on." The EuroMillions Plus winner decided to head down to his local shop to again check his ticket and got the same message but he still didn’t know how much they’d won.His winning EuroMillions Plus ticket was purchased from Dunnes Stores in Portmarnock, Co. Dublin on the day of the draw. The family had heard of a local €500,000 EuroMillions Plus winner in the area but still didn’t check their tickets and had no idea the winning ticket was in their kitchen. But they said when they made their way to the National Lottery offices in Dublin, they still didn’t know whether they’d be collecting a €500 prize or €100 million.
