Dream Wedding Dress for £320,000 Postcode Lottery Winner
August was a month Rachel from Woodbridge in Suffolk, England will never forget. It had already seen plenty of excitement but was capped by a £320,000 Postcode Lottery win.
Last month had already seen her get engaged to be married, celebrate her birthday and book her wedding. Now the bride-to-be can buy a ‘budget free’ dress for her big day when marrying Callum next June.
“I’m not going to put a limit on my wedding dress,” said the excited Postcode Lottery winner. The mother-of-one has been with Callum for eight years. Their wedding is due to take place in Paphos, Cyprus.
Unorthodox proposal
A proposal is always special but on this occasion, it was a little bit unorthodox. Callum asked their four-year-old son Harvey to speak to Rachel and ask, “Mummy, will you marry my daddy?”
The couple had already been planning to move to a bigger house. Thanks to this Postcode Lottery win, that can happen a lot sooner than they’d planned.
They were expecting their win to be around £30,000 and had only had two £10 wins in the past. “You don't ever think you'll win big. This is a life-changing amount of money,” said Rachel.
‘Jammy’ winner
Also celebrating a £320,000 Postcode Lottery win is their next-door neighbour Ann. She’d only been playing for a year after her daughter Lisa suggested she start playing. Her daughter joked: “I’ve been playing for quite a few years and I’m thinking she’s a bit jammy, I’m not going to lie!”
Even luckier was Geoffrey from Nottinghamshire in England. He won a £111,111 Postcode Lottery prize in the very first draw he entered.
The mother-of-four and grandmother said the size of the win was beyond her expectations. Now plans are being made to revamp her terraced home which she has lived in for nearly 30 years.
That will include redecorating the property and buying a couple of new sofas and carpets. A holiday (possibly to Greece) and helping her family, including her grandchildren is also being planned.
