Digger Delight for £166,666 Postcode Lottery Winner
Husbands and wives often have different plans on how to spend lottery winnings. For a couple from Tain in the Scottish Highlands who won a £166,666 Postcode Lottery prize, the wife wants a new kitchen but her husband desires a digger.
Double Success
Gordon and Angela had a double win as they had two Postcode Lottery tickets. They’ve lived at the same address for the past 30 years but Angela was shocked at how much they’d won.
“I’ll be able to get the kitchen I want now,” was her immediate reaction. “It’s a lifetime’s worth of money.” added the Postcode Lottery winner.
Her builder husband loves diggers and joked: “I’ll always want more diggers and there’s always another type of digger that I’d like to buy.” He struggled to believe he wasn’t dreaming or there was “a wee pixie” on his shoulder.
As well as sorting out their garden (currently a “right mess"), the couple want to go to New York for the first time. They also want to help their children, help their two children. Lynsey and Alistair onto the property ladder. Their son seems to be more keen on a Volkswagen Golf R.
New business
Beata is celebrating her £83,333 Postcode Lottery win. Describing her windfall as “mind-blowing,” she now wants to open her own bed and breakfast business.
The winner celebrates her 40th birthday next month. With this win her celebratory plans are being boosted. Plans include buying a “really nice dress” and a trip to Florida.
It’s not been an easy past couple of years for Beata. Her husband Oliver has had health problems and that’s meant extra work for her.
The couple are big fans of violinist Anndré Rieu and dream of seeing him in concert. Beata said: “That would be the icing on the cake.”
Shock to the system
Semi-retired lumberjack James was the other £166,666 Postcode Lottery winner. He had four grandchildren and said this win is a “shock to the system.”
His wife, Kate, is understandably delighted with the news. “It’ll change our lives considerably” said Kate, who added it’ll also be used to help their children and grandchildren.
