Dental Patient Wins $8 million Oz Lotto Jackpot

We all need a bit of a pick-me-up after a trip to see a dentist. A man from North Queensland, Australia decided to buy a lottery ticket to cheer himself up. It certainly did that as it won him an $8 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

His ticket was the only division one winner in the Oz Lotto draw held on October 8. He didn’t see the draw live so had no idea that he had won the jackpot. The Bentley Park resident was sitting at his breakfast table with his wife when receiving a phone call.

That’s unbelievable

Having registered his ticket, the lottery company knew exactly who had won the $8 million jackpot. No wonder his initial response was: “Oh my! That’s unbelievable!”

The shocked winner said he had been playing the Oz Lotto draw ever since it started. The retiree  added that the win “will make life so much easier.”

Recalling when he bought his jackpot winning ticket, he said: “Who would’ve known that this ticket would deliver an $8 million win.”

Another Queenslander is probably still celebrating after he  won a $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot six months ago.

A new car

Across the breakfast table his wife had a big smile on her face. Her husband isn’t sure how to spend the $8 million win but will definitely buy a new car.

His winning Oz Lotto ticket was bought from Market Place News in Bentley Park. It's owned by Sally Tyrie and she was delighted when told her store had sold an $8 million winning Oz Lotto ticket.

“I think selling the ticket is the next best thing to winning”” declared the thrilled store owner. The balloons have been up at the store since receiving the news. It’s the third division one winning ticket they’ve sold since taking over 19 years ago. The last one was sold in 2019.

“These winning moments are why we do what we do!” said the store owner who hopes the winners have “some great times ahead of them.”
