Couple’s Disbelief of $70 million Lotto Max Win

Discovering any lottery win can be a shock. For Marc Meilleur and his wife, Dorothy-Ann from Ontario Canada, they just couldn’t believe their luck. The couple won a $70 million Lotto Jackpot in the February 26 draw.

The great-grandparents each buy tickets for every Lotto Max draw. They have different ways of playing though with Dorothy-Ann using birthdays and anniversaries. Marc meanwhile uses the Quick Pick method, and it was his that won the jackpot.

Unbelievable

The 60-year-old retired mechanic scanned his ticket the day after the Lotto Max draw. He couldn’t believe it when the app flashed up ‘$70,000,000’ on the screen. Marc just couldn’t believe it and checked his ticket a few more times.

His wife was still in bed, so he rushed to tell her the good news, not that she believed him at first. Dorothy-Ann checked the ticket in other ways before finally believing their incredible Lotto Max win. Even though the lottery company had been called, they still went to the shop where their winning ticket had been purchased to have it checked.

Their winning numbers were 11, 17, 19, 22, 27, 31, and 40. When the win was verified, Dorothy-Ann began crying tears of joy. They began to contact their family, but their daughter was worried mum’s crying meant bad news.

Looking after their family

The couple have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They have financial advisors helping them plan how to help all of them. Their generosity will include new homes and cars.

The winners themselves have plenty of plans for their Lotto Max winnings. They want to buy a new home in the Sudbury region that they adore. They will also help the local community with charitable donations. A tour of Canada in a new truck is also planned, when possible as Marc isn’t a keen flyer.

"Starting on the east coast, there are so many beautiful areas to discover all over this amazing country. I've only seen it on TV, and now me and my wife want to see all of Canada in person, he explained.
