Couple Go Month Before Discovering £120,000 Set for Life Win
It’s easy not to answer the emails you receive. James and Sally Briggs from Walsall, England, did that for a month not knowing it was Camelot trying to inform them of a £120,000 Set for Life win.
Too busy
It was on August 3 that the first email was received but James says “there was so much going on” at work that he didn’t open it. His wife then had her 40th birthday and the couple had a holiday in Berlin to celebrate, not knowing they’d won £120,000.
The emails kept coming and being ignored. After the fourth was received, James, 42, decided to open it and you can imagine his surprise when calling Camelot. They revealed their ticket had won £10,000 a month for a whole year.
You what?
It wasn’t until the following day that James told his wife the news of their Set for Life win. He sent her a text telling his wife he had some news for her. Sally was concerned it was going to be bad news. When told they’d won £120,000 all she could keep saying was ‘you what?’
The couple have lots of plans on how to spend their Set for Life winnings. There won’t be a massive spending spree though. Their parents told them to “enjoy yourselves, but wisely.”
Some of their windfall has already been used to pay off a loan and a new car has been purchased. A trip to Vancouver in Canada is also being planned by the Set for Life winning couple.
They also plan on building a ‘man cave’ in their home. However, it’s not for James but for his wife Sally, 40, with an arts and craft theme. That won’t be the only home renovation though.
Finally, a new front door
The Set for Life winners want to buy a new front door. James has wanted one for a while; a quote of nearly £5,000 put him off. “Now we can have a nice, bespoke front door,” he said.
