Change of Game Results in Set for Life Win

Changing the lottery that you play can be a risky move. It paid off for Mustapha Salmi from Vancouver in Canada. Towards the end of November, he began playing the Set for Life draw and ended up winning $1,000 a week for 25 years.

The lucky player usually tries his luck on the Crossword or Bingo scratchcards. However, when he saw there was a new Set for Life game, he decided to switch his allegiances.  He’s really pleased now that he made that decision.

Mustapha regularly goes to the Super Save Gas Station in Richmond to buy tickets. It was on a recent visit that he decided to change the game he plays.

His luck was in as he won two free tickets. However, a much larger win was just seconds away. Then his last purchase won the top Set for Life prize of $1,000 a week for a quarter of a century. “I couldn’t believe it,” said the lucky player.

He wasn’t entirely sure that he had won the Set for Life top prize. To get confirmation he asked the cashier to check his ticket. He could certainly realize that his first look at the ticket had been correct. In fact, Mustapha believes that the cashier “was more excited than I was.”

A phone call to the lottery was made, just to extinguish any lingering doubts of his win. He was still in shock though and couldn’t believe what had happened. “It happened to me? Really?" Salmi joked. Also in disbelief was his closest friend when told the news. He thought his friend was telling him a joke, but he wasn’t.

A celebratory dinner is being planned and of course he’ll be paying for all the treats. Other spending plans include a trip overseas for a family reunion. The best thing about his win is that now he doesn’t have to worry about money. “I wake up feeling free," said the Set for Life winner. "It will help me help my family,” he added.
