CAROL WINS $1M LOTTO MAX PRIZE ON HER RETIREMENT DAY
There’s no point asking Carol Knipfel from Kitchener in Ontario, Canada if she’s going to retire after her $1m Lotto Max win on June 1. That’s because buying her winning ticket was one of the first things she did after retiring. The lucky Lotto Max winner had just finished her final shift as a utility dispatcher for the City of Kitchener and had just had a party celebrating her last day at work. She headed to the C & J Variety store in Kitchener and bought a ticket for the June 1 Lotto Max draw. Carol isn’t a regular purchaser of Lotto Max tickets but was attracted by the $60m jackpot and over 50 $1m Maxmillion prizes, though she admits she didn’t want to win the jackpot saying, “I wouldn’t know what to do with it all.”Not that she found out about her Lotto Max right away just like Jeremy Scramstad who also won a $1m Lotto Max prize in that draw. It wasn’t until June 10 that she checked her Lotto Max ticket at a Food Basics store and the self-serve scanner. A man from Sydney, Australia had a $3.88m winning Lucky Lottery Super Jackpot ticket for weeks before checking it.Knipfel scanned her ticket and it declared “Big Winner,” but unsure she took it to another convenience store to double-check it. The same happened again but until the Ontario Lottery contacted her she had no idea she’d won a $1m Lotto Max prize. “It was so unreal,” she said. In England, Jean Bibby won a £30,000 People’s Postcode Lottery prize two days after she retired. The delighted Lotto Max winner has paid off the mortgage on her home near Belmont Village but is thinking of downsizing to a bungalow. The lease on her car runs out next month so she’s looking to get a new car. “I was thinking of getting a Honda, but now I think it'll maybe be a Buick SUV," she said. It’s the latest big win in Ontario after Paul Fuerth won $100,000 playing Lotto 6/49. Also celebrating was Scott Rienguette who won a $1m Lotto Max prize on June 8.Another plan for her Lotto Max winnings is to leave most of her win to her three sons and six grandchildren. She still plans on buying the occasional lottery ticket and joked "I love retirement. It's the best thing I've ever done.”Lady Luck could be smiling at you anytime... purchase your tickets now at Lottery24.com.
