Caribbean Cruise for £58,823 Postcode Lottery Winners

It’s great news when a lottery win comes along after you’ve had a tough time. That’s been the case with David and Pat Coglan from Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, England. He’s just won a £58,823 Postcode Lottery prize.

Off to the Caribbean

2024 wasn’t an easy one for his family after his wife Pat and son Brian were in a car crash in October. Now the couple are looking forward to going on the dream Caribbean cruise his wife has long dreamed of. Upgrading their kitchen is also being planned.

David is 74 but said the Postcode Lottery win had turned him “into a 12-year-old” and he’s “all giddy.”  He and his wife have been married for 47 years and he now describes themselves as “pensioners with a healthy bank balance.”

They couple also want to help their son who has multiple sclerosis. He visits them every Thursday and was there when his parents received their winning cheque. “He might have brought us some luck,” said his proud father.

On a more serious note, he added that this Postcode Lottery win “will allow us to look after our son. I can't put it into words."

No running about

Also celebrating a £58,823 win is soon-to-retire golf professional Ernie Wilson. Golf mad  David from Scotland won a massive £1.02 million Postcode Lottery prize.

Ernie was busy working at the Woodham Golf & Country Club so his wife Michelle and their two daughters received the winning cheque. Michelle joked:  “I could just scream and run about, but I've got a bad foot, so I can't.”  

Her husband didn’t know how much had been won and requested to be told in person. He’d been up all night watching Postcode Lottery videos and his wife had been up since half past three.

He waited in the pro shop at the golf course waiting for them to arrive and tell him the good news. When he saw how much it was, he described it as “a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”  The couple are now back online looking for holiday ideas and house renovations.
