British Lottery winners spread festive cheer with musical party
A group of British lottery winners from South Wales and the South West of England have joined together. They put their good fortune to use and spread the Christmas cheer this holiday season. The
group of winners have a combined lottery wealth of £24 million. Thanks to their lottery luck they were able to throw a Rat-Pack inspired Christmas party for the elderly music group, Music in Mind. The winners included Matt Evans, from Barry, who won £2.6 million in July 2015. He explained that the British lottery winners wanted to get involved in the community in order to give back locally.
A time for giving
“Throughout the year, I really enjoy giving my time to projects that benefit local communities,” he explained. “So, I jumped at the chance to be involved in hosting a Christmas party for this great group.”
Music in Mind is a singing group for people aged 50 years and over who are at risk of social isolation, loneliness or potential worsening mental and physical health. The Christmas party took place at Cowbridge Bear Hotel in Barry, and the group of lottery winners all helped to decorate the venue, serve food and drinks, chat with the guests and even join in with some of the singing.Sarah Miles is the managing director for
Music in Mind, which has previously received lottery funding. She said that they were delighted to have had help from former British Lottery winners to throw their Christmas party. “We don’t often have a lot of money left over for extra treats such as a Christmas party, and so we’re extremely grateful to the National Lottery winners for treating us to such a wonderful afternoon.”
