Birthday Present Wins Mum Set For Life Top Prize

It’s always good to receive a birthday present, isn’t it? The feeling was even better for Cheryl Crowley from Brent in London. It was a Set For Life ticket from her daughter and it won her £10,000 a month for a whole year in the May 6 draw.

It was the day before her birthday that the Set For Life draw took place. Jade had purchased some Lucky Dip tickets and then planned to give them to her mother the next day.  The inspiration came from her grandfather – Cheryl’s father – as he once promised them that a big National Lottery win would come their way.

Little did she know just how much one of the tickets would be worth by the time her mother opened her birthday cards.

The Big Day

Finally, Cheryl’s big day arrived, and she was enjoying her morning cup of tea. She greeted the sight of a Set For Life ticket with a laugh. Instantly she went onto the National Lottery app but admits she wasn’t “expecting to hear the bell that announced a win.” Even if there was one, she didn’t expect it to be the top prize.

After a call to Camelot the win was confirmed. Then her father was told how his promise had finally come true. “Dad was absolutely over the moon. It has quite literally made his year and possibly his decade!” said Cheryl.

Her daughter was on the school run at the time, so that was another phone call for Cheryl to make. “ When she said exactly how big a winner, I just couldn’t believe it,” said a delighted Jade.

Dad was Right 

The Set For Life winner says the win is for herself, Jade and her father. She’s delighted and surprised with her windfall saying, “I honestly didn’t believe that anything this wonderful could happen. I’m delighted dad has been proved right after all.”

No exotic holidays are planned though. Talking about how the winnings will be spent she said: “We are going to enjoy our time together, whether it's shopping sprees, bingo adventures or day trips to the coast.”
